Drake Circus Shopping Centre in Plymouth has appointed Greg Lumley as its new Centre Director. Greg will have overall responsibility for continuing to improve Drake Circus to benefit both customers and retailers.

Greg has more than 26 years experience in the retail sector and significant experience in managing shopping centres.

Greg was Centre Manager at Westfield London Shopping Centre in Shepherds Bush for three years and oversaw the centres opening in 2008. He led the team and established Westfield London as Europes largest urban shopping centre. Prior to that Greg was centre manager for four retail centres for McArthurGlen. He has also held various store manager positions for companies including Lillywhites, Blacks, Barratts and JD Sports.

His role will see him working with Drake Circus owner British Land to continue to attract exciting retail, leisure and food brands not currently represented in the city.

Claire Barber, Head of Shopping Centre Asset Management for British Land, said: The retail sector is continually evolving and we are delighted to have someone of Gregs calibre leading the team at Drake Circus. He will ensure that the centre continues to deliver a first class environment to its 19 million annual visitors, where people want to shop and spend leisure time and where retailers want to trade.

Greg Lumley, Drake Circus Centre Director, added: In the five years that Drake Circus has been open, it has performed exceptionally well and has brought a level of retail to the region which before just did not exist. Our job now is to build on that success and continue to broaden the retail mix by introducing yet more exciting retail, leisure and catering names to the centre.

He added: We will be developing new opportunities at Drake Circus which will be good news for Plymouth and the region, and through British Lands community charter commitments, we will continue to support local initiatives and develop long-term local relationships.

Drake Circus has recently secured new lettings to YO! Sushi and Paperchase. YO! Sushis first restaurant west of Bristol opened in March while the Paperchase store is only the second standalone unit in the South West.

The 560,000 sq ft Drake Circus shopping centre comprises more than 66 shops and restaurants and 1,270 car park spaces and has an annual footfall of 18.7 million. The scheme is situated in the centre of Plymouth and is the city's first covered shopping centre.

The shopping centre is anchored by M&S, Primark and Next and all three are the largest stores in their groups west of Bristol. The fashion offer includes Topshop/Topman, Cult, H&M, New Look, River Island, Monsoon and Republic.
