The Rum Store - during the Second World War the Royal Navy used the first cavern at Carnglaze to store its supply of rum. Now home to a unique collection of South West minerals, this chamber has been converted into an auditorium with seating for 400 with full stage, P.A. and lighting. The slate walls and roof left by the miners form a stunning backdrop for events, making this a unique venue.
Due to the shape and height of the cavern, the acoustics are outstanding and have been acclaimed by many of the local and international artists who have performed here, as being some of the best in the world.
A variety of concerts are planned throughout the year offering a selection of musical genres with performers from across the musical spectrum, from rock to classical. There is also a twice yearly Crystals and Crafts Show and an annual fireworks display. Concert goers come from all over the country and from as far as Japan!
Parking for concerts is normally in an adjacent field with a 5mins walk along a woodland path to the Rum Store. Limited Low Mobility parking is available, if requested at the time of booking.
As the concerts and events are continually being planned and confirmed, there are two ways to be kept up to date: either email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for the monthly email newsletter or go to www.carnglaze.com/concerts-events-2013.html for the latest information.
As the Caverns are at a constant 10C, we recommend warm clothing and sensible footwear. Many of our regulars bring a small cushion to sit on.
Tickets can be booked by phone with a debit card; cheque by post; or in person, Mon to Sat 10am to 5pm
