Show your children round three caverns of cathedral proportions, hand created by local slate miners. Children played a pivotal role in mining and started work at 7/ 8 yrs. of age. The hand tools used by the miners are on open displays, so they can be handled under your supervision. During your tour you will go about 150m into the hillside and 60m below ground, via a flight of 60 steps.
In the lower Caverns you will find the subterranean lake with its crystal clear blue/green water. When on a self-guided tour, (available for much of the year) you can enjoy the sounds of silence and then encourage your children to have fun with the echo! In high seasons guided tours may be in operation as there is a limit on numbers allowed in the lower Caverns at one time.
The Caverns at Carnglaze are set within an ancient Oak Woodland with a magical collection of limited edition bronze faeries, mushrooms & dragons.
Walk through the Terraced Garden to the Enchanted Dell, see Shanhara and her faery friends, with the challenge of counting as many as you can find (report your findings to the ticket office later for a sticker). Then follow the Woodland Walk to a panoramic view of St Neot village before looping back to the main site: a round walk of approx. 25 mins.
The Caverns are at a constant 10C, so a jumper and sensible footwear are recommended.
The Conservatory is available to hire for your Childs birthday party, please contact us for details.
Dogs on leads with careful owners are welcome at all times in all outdoor areas (assistance dogs only underground).
