Its stunning choice of beaches and North Coast waves combine to make Newquay the UK’s capital of surfing. But it’s not just surfers who come back to the resort year after year. The town’s packed calendar of events and array of attractions make it a perennial favourite with families too

This month will see Newquay’s famous Fistral Beach and nearby Watergate Bay transformed with the return of the Boardmasters Festival bringing with it thousands of music and surf fans with competitions and performances.

The Watergate Bay music arena at Boardmasters 2014 (6 - 10 August) is famous for offering the world’s best view from a festival site, and will houses eight genre spanning stages, as well as endless food stops, festi-stalls and rides, while Newquay’s Fistral Beach will house surfing (of course), skate, BMX, evening gigs, the surf village and surf art installations.
