An innovative company has turned to popular crowd funding platform Kickstarter as they look to further develop their Cornish based point and click adventure game.

The Secret Cove, which will be set in some of the most stunning and iconic scenery and venues from around Cornwall, allows players to immerse themselves in the world of beautiful scenery and hidden locations as an out of work deckhand seeking to find the secret cove and claim the smugglers lost treasure.

Project Director Suzanne Mosley-Payne says: 'We’ve been visiting Cornwall for many years and it was the obvious choice as the setting for an adventure game; rugged coastlines, beautiful beaches, breathtaking scenery and rich heritage. Cornwall was the perfect home for this project.'

The game, which has been in development for almost two years, is due for release in late October 2015 on major platforms including Windows 8 (PC, mobile and tablet), Windows 7,iOS, Android, Steam (PC and MAC) and Ouya.

'There are a lot of games on the market these days and it’s an incredibly competitive industry; we’ve strived to make an in game world that’s interesting, interactive and that looks beautiful,' says Suzanne. 'Whether it’s the Minack Theatre or the Lost Gardens of Heligan we want players to not only immediately identify with the location but also immerse themselves fully in the game. These are great locations and we want to do them justice.'

The Kickstarter campaign will give potential gamers from across the county the chance to become armchair investors and the money raised will fund the completion of the game’s development along with making it available on a wider range of platforms.

Should the Kickstarter campaign be successful, budding funders will gain benefits depending on their level of investment including a copy of the game, a printed or digital art book, opportunities to be a beta tester or work with the developers to see their favourite Cornish location featured as a scene in the game, plus many more.

The Secret Cove is being created by independent development company Cheeky Sprite Studios. The adventure game is inspired by the county of Cornwall and is due for release on PC and all major smart phone operating systems from October 2015

Some of the Cornish venues featured in the game include:

- St Ives wharf
