Cornwall Garden Society's lectures will continue this month with talks from Britain's 'herb guru', Jekka McVicar.
Jekka is not only a published author and president of the Herb Society, but TV Chef Jamie Oliver has also called her the ‘Queen of Herbs’, thanks to her work in his garden that she helped to develop.
Jekka will be conducting two separate lectures in February for local gardening enthusiasts. The first lecture – ‘Herbs for all seasons’ - will take place on 19 February in the Falmouth Hotel at 7.30pm. The second - ‘Planning a herb garden’ – will be held at Coombeshead on 20 February at 2.30pm.
Elizabeth Wilton, Cornwall Garden Society’s Lecture Organiser, is expecting this to be a popular event.
“We’re so pleased to have been able to get Jekka down to Cornwall for these lectures,” she said. “She has so much wisdom to share and this is the perfect time of year for starting to think about herb gardens. We really hope that attendees will gain a lot from it.”
Cornwall Garden Society’s series of lectures will round off next month by gardening innovator, writer and teacher Noel Kingsbury who will be conducting a series of lectures as well as holding a workshop.
Entry to all these lectures is free for members of Cornwall Garden Society, and non-members are asked to make a £5 donation. For more information about Cornwall Garden Society and becoming a member, visit www.cornwallgardensociety.org.uk.
