Immerse yourself in Cornwall’s past with a stay in one of Falmouth’s oldest buildings, freshly renovated to meet the style of the most discerning of visitors

Falmouth has a pull beyond its beaches and obvious beauty – it has a spirit, history and sense of cultural identity that combine to offer a unique allure. It’s also home to one of Cornwall’s most beautiful historic inns.

Following a sensitive yet spectacular restoration by St Austell Brewery, the Chain Locker - on Falmouth’s Custom House Quay - offers stylish and contemporary dining and accommodation. As one of the town’s oldest buildings (with roots back as far as the 16th century) it has maintained its original and distinctive charm.

The first floor provides unrivalled waterside views of the bustling quay and spectacular natural beauty of Carrick Roads. A harbour-facing restaurant and two new balconies are perfect for dining alfresco and enjoying locally sourced seafood.

Upstairs, six new boutique bedrooms (starting at £125 a night) also make it an ideal place to stay to explore Falmouth.

The Chain Locker sits in the middle of the town with everything guests could want on the doorstep. Shops, cafés and restaurants are all in easy reach. The celebrated pub is a 15-minute walk away from Falmouth’s famous beaches and The National Maritime Museum Cornwall and Rick Stein’s Fish Restaurant are just a five-minute stroll from the front door.

Some of the best times of year to visit Falmouth are during the town’s music or seafood celebrations – the International Sea Shanty Festival (22-24 June) and the Falmouth Oyster Festival (11-14 October) are two annual highlights.

Whatever the time of year, glorious oysters can be found on the Chain Locker menu. The restaurant’s fresh local seafood is the perfect match for a glass of Proper Job, St Austell Brewery’s multi-award-winning IPA - powerfully hopped and packed full of citrus, pineapple and grapefruit flavours. Cheers!

St Austell Brewery’s collection of pubs, inns and hotels across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Bristol are situated in some of the most stunning and character filled locations in the West Country
