People are invited to a celebration day at the Forestry Commissions Cardinham Woods as flood hit Woods Cafe reopens for business on Sunday 6 March after being forced to close since the terrible floods in November last year.
A celebration event is planned to re-launch the cafe, with a number of fun activities planned for families. Parking at the Forestry Commissions Cardinham Woods will be free for the day, and people are being encouraged to come and see what the site has to offer.
As well as its full menu, the cafe will be serving up delicious treats like free hot chocolate, mulled cider and cake and if the weather allows may have a BBQ serving local sausages. There will be a live band, Funky Acoustica, playing from 1pm and there will be a face painter.
Other attractions on the day include a forestry display which will take place from late morning and a fire engine and local fire crew will also be there for part of the day. In addition the Forestry Commission will be displaying information about further development of Cardinham for visitors to peruse.
Lara Spurrell who runs Woods cafe says: We are delighted to be reopening after a tough few months following the floods in November. It has been hard work to get the cafe back up and running but we think we have come out of the other side with an even better offering to visitors. We want the day to be a real celebration of Cardinham Woods and the cafe and we hope that many people come along and celebrate with us.
Recreation ranger Chris Mason adds: This is set to be a fun day for the whole family and we would encourage people, both existing users of Cardinham and people who havent been before to join the fun. As well as the planned activities for the day our trails will be open as normal.
