With the opening day of the 2011 Royal Cornwall Show getting ever-closer, council members, officials, staff and guests gathered for a pre-show reception.

It was staged at Trelowarren, near Helston, the home of the 2011 show president, Sir Ferrers Vyvyan, who hosted the event.

Once the show is under way, there is little time for all those who bring it together to relax and socialise.

So this is an occasion when we all have a chance to catch up, share information and look forward to the show, said secretary Christopher Riddle.

We were all made to feel very welcome at Trelowarren and it gave the Sir Ferrers and his wife Victoria who generously hosted the evening - the opportunity to meet many of the people they will come across during the show.

The show opens for three days on 9th of June. Main ring acts this year include the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team, the Bolddog Lings Freestyle Motocross Display team and for the first time in the UK, camel polo!

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will visit the show on Friday, 10th June.
