Simply Wood charity chef evening 'back by popular demand'
Tuesday, November 30, 2010
After two very successful chef demonstration evenings hosted by Simply Wood, hand-made kitchen specialists of Kilkhampton near Bude raising over 1,000 for Shelterbox, a third event has been announced. A festively themed pre-Christmas evening is to be held on 15 December, with Kit Davies from the Castle Restaurant and Oliver Tullett from North Coast Wines in Bude returning by popular demand.
Mark from Simply Wood comments: both Kit and I have been approached by a number of people asking us to put on an evening during the build-up to Christmas, so we thought this would be a great opportunity to fund another life saving Shelterbox for this fantastic Cornish-based charity.
The past two events have been a sell-out with over fifty people at each evening entertained in the Chefs Kitchen at Simply Wood, taking the opportunity to see a professional chef at work but also being able to sample the freshly cooked food, accompanied by some great wines.
This latest foodie evening coincides with the launch of the Simply Wood Chefs Kitchen as a permanent official Shelterbox fund-raising venue. Planning is now well underway for a soon to be announced 2011 events calendar. With Food Magazine and Cornwall Food & Drink as main sponsors, chefs from all over the South West will have the perfect location to entertain the public with their culinary skills.
Everyones a winner says Mark, these are enjoyable evenings. South West chefs have the opportunity to promote their restaurants as do Simply Wood and, of course, we are all raising money for a superb cause! We are delighted to be able to nominate Shelterbox as our official charity and with Food Magazine and Cornwall Food & Drink as our supporters; we are all looking forward to the year ahead.
Simply Wood has been designing and hand-building kitchens for over twenty-five years and their Chefs Kitchen at the showrooms in Kilkhampton caters for an audience of around fifty people with 100% of ticket sales going to charity.
Kit from the Castle Restaurant says of the event: with so many people spending hours and hours in the kitchen on Christmas Day when they could be relaxing, I thought it would be good to demonstrate something thats tasty but quick and easy. I'll be cookinga Christmas Daymain course which will be game based, maybe pheasant andfollow it with afestive pudding and as always we'll be serving up tasters for all the guests. With Oliver serving some specially selected wines, it should all go down a treat!
