Simply Wood charity chef event raises more money for Shelterbox
Friday, January 28, 2011
The latest Simply Wood charity chef evening held just before Christmas at their Kilkhampton showroom was deemed a huge success by all involved and raised another worthy 700 for Shelterbox. All ingredients were provided free by The Castle Restaurant, the wine donated by the suppliers of North Coast Wine and the venue and hosting given by Simply Wood.
Festively themed to demonstrate saving time whilst cooking something special for Christmas Day, Kit Davies from the Bude-based Castle Restaurant prepared two delicious courses from scratch a pheasant dish followed by a mouth-watering Apple Tarte Tatin. Oliver Tullett from locally based North Coast Wines provided complementary wine tasters from start to finish, all of which went down very well with the 45+ foodies present at the event.
With the Simply Wood Chefs Kitchen now firmly on the map and having recently been confirmed as a permanent official Shelterbox fund-raising venue, more events are being planned for 2011. These will feature different locally based chefs and themes and not to be missed food tips and tasters!
Mark Trewin of Simply Wood comments we had another great evening it was lovely to see people supporting us all at what is a very busy time of year. It is fantastic to be able to host such popular events using the working showroom kitchen at Simply Wood, watching people get enjoyment from being a part of it, knowing we are raising money for such a superb, locally based cause and offering South West chefs the opportunity to demonstrate their skills. We look forward to more fun and fund-raising this year!
