COUNTDOWN TO ZESTIFAL

The countdown is very much on until Falmouth’s biggest annual sports festival gets
ZestiFAL, running from 23-27July, is a vibrant andcolourful event organised by the Falmouth BID, which aims to bring together a host oflocal sports clubs and activity providers for five days to offer a wide variety of free tastersessions and challenges.
ZestiFAL will transform the town’s open spaces into various zones’ - Studio and ActiveZones on The Moor, Team Zone on Events Square, Beach Zone on Gyllyngvase Beach and aFamily Zone in Kimberley Park. Each will showcase a timetable of activities for all ages andabilities.
New this year will be a Segway Taster Day thanks to Cornwall Segway, who will be takingover Events Square on Wednesday 27 July, while Cornwall Volleyball Academy haveannounced a series of exhibition matches and free have-a-go beach volleyball sessions forchildren and adults on Gyllyngvase Beach throughout the week.
In the Studio Zone on The Moor, local gym clubs, personal trainers, well-being and fitnessinstructors will be co-ordinating a range of classes from reflexology and massage to Zumbaand Pilates. Providers include Ships & Castles Gym, New Era Fitness, Falmouth Yoga Spaceand Embrace Dance. Meanwhile, the Moor’s Active Zone welcomes a variety of have-a-goevents and displays including skateboarding, a climbing wall, circus skills, P1 Powerboat andFalmouth Wheelers.
The big Sunday event at 1pm is the Pirate Tuff Enuff Run which starts and finishes on TheMoor. People are invited to be pirates for the day and take on an obstacle run to raisemoney for Cornwall Hospice Care, adorned in pirate stripes and hats! The route takesrunners through the town towards Events Square, where they will traverse a range ofobstacles built by renowned Cornish fitness company Tuff Enuff. On Events Square during ZestiFAL, other activities taking place include abseiling down theNational Maritime Museum tower with BF Adventure, free ball games laid on by theCornwall Sports Partnership, tennis, a Falmouth Workplace Sports Day, rugbytots,Taekwondo and hockey.
Kimberley Park becomes the ZestiFAL Family Zone for ZestiFAL’s final day on Wednesday27 July. Visitors to the award-winning green space will discover a mountain bike trail,dance and fitness workshops, organised games laid on by the Dracaena Centre, circus skills,rugbytots and inflatables. And do look out for the ZestiFAL dance mob which will congregateat 1pm for a final day dance-off!
The Gylly Beach Zone provides the stage for some fantastic watersports and gym sessions.WESUP Paddleboarding Centre have put together a special program of free and discounteddaily taster sessions in addition to a special ZestiFAL SUP Race on the final day. St Michael’sHotel gym will offer various studio-style classes on the beach, while Falmouth-based CornishDiving School will be taking first time and experienced divers out. Gylly Surf Lifesaving Clubare also on board, co-ordinating a special Women in Waves session.
