August is here - and with it comes a packed calendar of events and activities - so here's a few ideas of what you could be doing in Cornwall during August.
Meet Peppa Pig
Peppa Pig is returning to Crealy Great Adventure Park to meet her fans. The popular TV character will delight guests with story time appearances in the Showtime Arena. Peppa is one of a number of stars visiting the attraction during the summer holidays as part of a programme of events to celebrate Crealy’s 25th anniversary.

Falmouth to Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta
Almost 50 ships from around the world, including 12 of the magnificent square-sail Tall Ships, will gather in Falmouth for three days of festivities. Then on 31 August they will take part in a Parade of Sail along the coast in Falmouth Bay before racing up the English Channel to the finishing line off the Isle of Wight. There will be a packed programme of shore-side entertainment, too, as well as the chance to explore some of the largest ships in the town’s Docks.
When: 28-31 August
Discover a lost world of dinosaurs at Eden. There is a host of dinosaur-related activities in store for intrepid adventurers, including the Crater of the Tyrant King, which is home to the Tyrannosaurus Rex. You can also help search for the lost dinosaur, dig deep into the past to discover a dinosaur skeleton and find out why scientists think they were so big, among other things, at a special exhibition.

St Endellion Summer Music Festival
The beautiful church of St Endelienta will become a concert venue for some of the most prestigious soloists and musicians in the UK for this internationally famous festival. From small beginnings more than 50 years ago it has grown to include a symphony orchestra and a chorus of 75 plus guests. Highlights include Puccini’s opera La Bohème and Bach’s choral piece B Minor Mass.
When: Until 8 August
Where: Collegiate Church of St Endelienta, St Endellion, Port Isaac, PL29 3TT
The organisers of this festival have a mission – to throw the greatest house party … in a field. Now in its ninth year, Leopallooza will once again take place at The Wyldes, a custom-made festival site near Bude. Started by a group of friends in 2006, the event has grown but remains true to its roots of a homemade event for live bands and their fans. It has six stages featuring some of the best new bands and DJs, and headline acts include Fenech-Soler and Foxes.
When: 1-3 August
Where: The Wyldes, Lower Exe Farm, Week St Mary, EX22 6UX
Fowey Regatta and Carnival Week
Fowey Regatta and Carnival Week
Thousands of visitors will be flocking to the usually tranquil town of Fowey for the regatta, which is one of the country’s leading sailing events. There will be racing on the water every day – not only serious stuff but also gig and raft events. It is also a fun-filled week for all the family, with land-based activities including a carnival, fireworks over the river and live music.
