Summer in February author at Penzance Literary festival

Following the phenomenal success of SUMMER IN FEBRUARY in Cornwall, author and screenwriter Jonathan Smith and producer Pippa Cross will host discussions at the Penzance Literary Festival on Wednesday 17 July and Saturday 20 July respectively.
Jonathan Smith – author of the novel Summer in February and screenwriter for the film adaptation – will be speaking at length on his fascinating experiences researching Gilbert Evans’ own diaries and his early encounters with actor who was to later portray the him on the big screen, Dan Stevens.
Pippa Cross – producer of SUMMER IN FEBRUARY and one of the UK’s most experienced film producers – will give further insight into the fascinating journey from the written word to the big screen, and how the central role played by the Cornish landscape presented both incomparable opportunities and challenges.
Directed by Christopher Menaul with a screenplay written by Jonathan Smith based on his 1995 novel, SUMMER IN FEBRUARY stars Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Dominic Cooper (The Devil’s Double), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) and winner of the Evening Standard and the Critics’ Choice Theatre Awards for Best Actress for her performance in the Young Vic’s A Doll’s House; Harriet Morahan.
