Rose Robinson, a member of Hall for Cornwall's Upstage Youth Theatre, has recently been accepted by London's prestigious National Youth Theatre.

Rose Robinson, a member of Hall for Cornwalls Upstage Youth Theatre, has recently been accepted by Londons prestigious National Youth Theatre.

The National Theatre auditioned over 4,500 young people recently and 15 year old Rose from Newquay was one of the few to make it through. She is now getting ready to attend a two week summer school in London this August.

Delighted to hear the good news, Rose says: Its still quite hard to believe they said yes its an amazing feeling.

Rose developed her passion for acting early, winning an award at Sheffield Drama Festival when she was seven. She joined Hall for Cornwalls Upstage at the age of just nine and is now a member of the venues Senior group. She credits the group and the experience she gained has having inspired and encouraged her love of acting.

Every second of Upstage is inspiring never a dull moment. Im always being challenged, always being pushed further to think outside the box and explore possibilities. Also it is genuinely just so much fun and Ive made so many friends I couldnt imagine my life without now.

In so many different ways from simple games, to acting exercises to working with professionals and then to the experience of putting on a proper production - my confidence has been boosted dramatically during my time at Upstage.

Rose is looking forward to the NYT course in August and to working with so many other young actors. There is no doubt I want acting to be a massive part of my future; I cant imagine doing anything else and I will pursue it as far as I can.

Jemma Bateman who runs HfCs Upstage sessions was thrilled by Roses success: Rose has proved herself to be a hard working and dedicated young actress. I am delighted that her enthusiasm and energy have been rewarded by her gaining a place in The National Youth Theatre. This is a wonderful opportunity for her and I wish her all the best for what I am sure, will be an amazing experience.

Mr Blake, Head of Drama at Newquay Tretherras School agreed and says: Rose is fully focussed on her drama work and has been involved in most of the school productions at Tretherras. She is an excellent all round performer and encourages others to get involved. She deserves her place in The National Youth Theatre as she will put the same smile on their faces as she does on ours.

With the support of Newquays Tretherras School, Rose and her family are now working hard to raise the money necessary for her to attend the two week summer school in London this August. The overall cost is estimated to be around 1,000 - 1,200. Various Fundraising events being organised include a Clothes Swap Fundraiser with Prize Draw on Thursday 2nd June. If you wish to attend the clothes swap, contribute to the Prize Draw or support Rose in her dream, please contact: sally@sallyrobinson.co.uk 07711 829857
